Robert J. “Bob” Kudrna, 84, of Oelwein, Iowa, died on Friday evening, November 12, 2021, at Oelwein Health Care Center from complications of open-heart surgery.

Mass of Christian Burial: 10:30 a.m.Wednesday, November 17, 2021, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Oelwein, with Rev. Ray Atwood officiating.

Visitation: 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday and from 9:30 to 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday at the Jamison-Schmitz Funeral Home, Oelwein.

Parish Scripture Service: 6:45 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Graveside Military Honors by the U.S. Air Force.

Interment: Woodlawn Cemetery, Oelwein, Iowa.

Robert John Kudrna was born March 12, 1937, in Calmar, Iowa, the son of Frank J. & Mildred M. (Slifka) Kudrna. He was raised in Calmar and graduated from Calmar High School in the class of 1955. Bob then joined the U.S. Air Force where he served from 1955-1959. Bob was united in marriage to Marlene Rose Bushman on September 3, 1960, at Our Lady of Seven Dolors in Festina, Iowa. Bob worked at French Furniture and Funeral Home in Calmar from when he was 15 years old until joining the Air Force and then after

his military service until 1963. Bob then worked for Interstate Power Company moving to Fayette in 1963 andthen to Oelwein in 1986. He retired from Alliant Energy in 1998 as the area manager.

Bob was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and Big Rock Country Club where he had previously served on the board of directors. He was an avid woodworker, making everything from intricate Christmas ornaments to larger furniture.  Bob enjoyed playing cards, bowling at Viper Lanes and Lilac Lanes and traveling to various places including Hawaii and Alaska.

Bob is survived by his Wife of 61 years: Marlene Kudrna of Oelwein; 2 Daughters: Kathy (Alan) Rausch of Fayette & Karen Bramow (Tim Fitzgibbon) of Ankeny; 3 Grandchildren: Ryan (Alexis) Rausch of Fairbank, Nicole Bramow of Ankeny & Danell Bramow of Verona, Wisconsin; 2 Great Grandchildren: Madilynn & Elliana and a baby girl Rausch coming in January 2022; Aunt: Irene Slifka of Des Moines; Numerous Cousins and the Bushman In-Laws: Joel Bushman of Brier, Washington, Paul (Pam) Bushman of The Villages, Florida, Judy Roberson of New Hampton, Tom (Terri) Bushman of Ossian & Coleen (Ed) Beacom of Sargent Bluff.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents; father-in-law & mother-in-law: Albert & Marie Bushman; sister-in-

law: Norma Jean Bushman; brother-in-law & sister-in-law: Carl & Madonna Bushman and sister-in-law: Ruth Ann Bushman.
