Ossian fall clean up planned for Oct. 1-2

A citywide fall clean-up day is planned for Ossian on Friday, Oct. 1 (8 a.m. – 5 p.m.) and Saturday, Oct. 2 (8 a.m. – noon). The City of Ossian is sponsoring the clean up day and will have a large roll off dumpster behind the City shop/fire station (106 W. Brooks St.). Only items from residential homes located within the incorporated city limits of Ossian will be accepted. City personnel and video cameras will monitor the site.

During fall cleanup, the following items can be brought to the dumpster with no cost to the homeowner:

  •  Furniture and household items without limit. (Excludes: TV’s, computer equipment and major appliances)
  •  Minor home remodeling debris, provided it is bagged, boxed or bundled, is no longer than 4 feet in length and that each bag, box or bundle does not weigh more than 50 pounds.
  •  Paint cans containing dry paint with the lid removed.

The following can be brought to the drop-off site for a disposal fee of $20 per item:

  •  Washing machines, clothes dryers, water heaters, furnaces, refrigerators, trash compactors, stoves, microwave ovens, freezers, humidifiers, air conditioners, dehumidifiers, televisions, computer monitors, computers, printers (questions about other items call).

The following items will not be accepted:

  •  Vehicle tires, hazardous waste materials such as liquid paint, solvents, pesticides or herbicides.

The City will pick up items for residents unable to haul items to the drop-off site. To make arrangements to have these items picked up, call (563) 532-8939 prior to Sept. 30. The City of Ossian reserves the right to reject any items brought to the site for disposal.
