Logan Henry Blue, 22, of rural West Union, died Saturday, November 14, 2020, at his home, as a result of a tragic accident. 

Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, November 21, 2020, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Luke’s Catholic Church in St. Lucas with Rev. Nick Radloff celebrating the Mass. The Mass will be livestreamed on Becker-Milnes & Rettig Facebook Page. Fellowship and refreshments will be served at the Hawkeye Community Hall following the Mass. Inurnment will be held at a later date. Rosary will be recited at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, with visitation will be held following on Friday, November 20 from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the St. Luke’s Catholic Church in St. Lucas and for one hour preceding the Mass on Saturday. Online condolences may be left at www.beckermilnesrettig.com

All attending the visitation and Mass are required to wear a mask and practice social distancing.

On Tuesday, November 10, 2020, Roy Terrence Post passed away at the age of 85.

Services are currently pending at this time.

Roy was born in Cedar Falls, Iowa to Lloyd and Edith (Groth) Post on June 9, 1935. He moved to a farm west of Randalia with his family in 1944. He graduated from Randalia High School in 1952. He was married to Joyce Arlene Fridley June 14, 1959, later divorced. He served in  the Iowa Army National Guard from 1957 to, April 30, 1963. He was a member of the Randalia Volunteer Fire Department and the Sumner Jaycees. He was married to Linda Lamphier April 4, 1981, later divorced. He purchased the farm in 1967 and farmed until 1989 before moving to Fayette. He was a truck driver for Schneider Motorways in Gunder, Moss Roofing in West Union, and Fayette Lumber in Fayette.

Norbert Anthony Retterath, 87, of Calmar, went to be with the Lord on November 4, 2020 at Methodist Hospital, Rochester, following a battle with colon cancer.

The Mass of Christian Burial was held at the St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church, Spillville, Iowa at  1 p.m., Saturday, November 7, 2020. The Interment was in St. Wenceslaus Catholic Cemetery, Spillville, Iowa

Norbert was born on November 22, 1932 to Mike and Anna (Heimer) Retterath on the home farm near Meyer, Iowa in Mitchell County. He went to Catholic school through 8th grade in Meyer and two years high school at Visitation in Stacyville. He worked on the family farm two years and then was a cabinetmaker for K. J. Retterath in Adams, Minnesota. He worked at John Deere in Waterloo from 1960 until he retired in 1990.

Debra Kay Appelman, 66, of Columbia, TN, passed away on Nov. 1, 2020. Debbie was born on July 21, 1954, in Postville, IA, daughter of the late Clifford and Betty Gisleson. She graduated from Valley High School with the class of 1972.

Visitation will be held Nov. 14, 2020, in the Family Life Center of First Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Lewisburg from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. A memorial service will follow in the sanctuary.

Mary Hermen, 66, of Elgin, Iowa died November 6, 2020 at University of Iowa Hospitals, Iowa City, Iowa. Mary was born December 22, 2020, 1953 to Charles and Irene (Gamm) Landis in Oelwein, Iowa. She graduated from Starmont High School in 1972.

    Mary was united in marriage with Steven Hermen on August 26, 1972 at Arlington Lutheran Church, Arlington, Iowa. Five children were born to this union, Jennifer, Brian, Bradley, Randy and Rodney. Mary was a cook, waitress and bartender. She collected knick-knacks, enjoyed camping, shopping, Elvis Presley, live music and antiques. Mary loved to cook and being around people and spending time with her grandchildren. She would help anybody in need.

Ricky “Rick” L. Hegland, 73, Marshfield, passed away on Monday, November 1, 2020 at his home.

Rick was born on July 12, 1947 in West Union, Iowa to Harris and Verla (Fordyze) Hegland. He attended and graduated from North High School in West Union.  

Rick eventually moved to Marshfield and worked at Quality Ingredients until his health no longer allowed him to do so.  He was united in marriage to the love of his life and best friend, Linda R. Schultz on August 9, 2013. She passed away on November 9, 2019.

Rick and Linda ran the Catnap Corner for 22 years. He belonged to the Central Wisconsin Amateur Wine Makers Club and was well known for his homemade Kahlua that was enjoyed by many. He looked forward to getting together with the kids and grandkids every Wednesday for the past 25 years. He also took great pride in his flowers - growing them from seed to full bloom.

Owen Nuehring

Owen Fredrick Nuehring, age 74, of Wells, MN and formerly of Postville, IA; died Monday, November 2, 2020 at the Methodist Hospital in Rochester, MN from natural causes.

A Public visitation was held Sunday, November 8, 2020 at Bruss-Heitner Funeral Home in Wells, MN from 1:00-3:00 p.m.  On Wednesday, November 11, 2020, there was a funeral service at Zion Lutheran Church in Castalia, IA at 2:00 p.m. with visitation one hour before the service at the church.   Burial was in Pleasant View Cemetery in Winneshiek Co, IA. 

Owen Fredrick was born March 18, 1946 in Postville, IA, the son of Orville and Emily (Schultz) Nuehring.  Owen worked for over 44 years at Wells Concrete, retiring several years ago. He loved to bowl and enjoyed watching Minnesota sports teams and sports of all kinds. He loved the sports channel on cable. December 10, 2020 would mark 39 years of sobriety for Owen.
